Immigration Officer Denies Access To Tourists
We have not finished properly translating the email we received from the two gentlemen who were treated very bad by the Immigration in Corozal but after posting about it on our Face Book Page we have today received this following email that was forwarded to us from a hotel in Corozal Town.
Sorry we could not arrive.
Unbelievable… but true… I was denied access to enter Belize because the immigration officer did not believe I was a tourist as my Mexican immigration card expires at the end of this month.
As an international worldwide traveler I have never been denied access to any country, hilarious that Belize, whose business is tourism, should be the first one.
Anyway, I will file an official complaint.
Got the “hospitality” manager’s data from the tourist module at the border and will send her an email.
Perhaps you can do the same.
Or perhaps you have other important contacts to send this form of abuse and discrimination too.
By the way, when hearing your place was the hotel of my choice, the Immigration Officer said that it is not a nice place and he would not recommend it.
Really cannot believe these guys, displaying such arrogance.
According to the hotel these people had booked to stay over a week in Corozal and were planning on visiting Mayan Ruins, going cave tubing, snorkeling near the Cayes and many other activities which would have brought money into Belize.
No wonder the businesses of Corozal complain that Tourism has been lower than usual this year, the Immigration Officers have been chasing them all away!Share on Facebook
