Couple Charged For Kept Ammunition Without A Gun License

On the strength of a search warrant, San Pedro Police conducted a search of the residence belonging to Jimell Paul Jex and Tracy Betancourt.

During the search, Police Officers discovered eight 9mm live rounds.

After being unable to present a firearm license, Jimell Paul Jex was arrested and charged with the offence of “Kept Ammunition without a Gun License“.

Later on that day, Tracy Betancourt, who was not at home at the time of the Police Search, was arrested and also charged for the same crime.

Due to Betancourt being pregnant, she was granted bail under the condition that she reports to the San Pedro Police Department every Friday while the case remains open and she must report to the San Pedro Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, June 14th when the trial will be held for both Betancourt and Jex.

She has also been warned not to interfere with any witnesses involved in the case or her bail would be revoked.

The Firearms Act, Chapter 143 Revised Edition 2000 states that the possession of an unlicensed firearm / ammunition is a serious offence and no bail should be given no matter what the circumstances are.
