Businessman Gets Robbed At Ranchito Airstrip

Avinash Deshmukh, 34-year-old business man of Corozal Town reported to the Corozal Police that on Friday, June 23rd at around 1:20 PM, he boarded a plane heading to San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye via the Ranchito Village Airstrip.

His purpose for flying to the island of Ambergris Caye was to collect some monetary funds from his store, located in San Pedro Town.

According to Deshmukh, he arrived on Ambergris Caye at around 1:55 PM and immediately headed to his store where he collected $54,000.00 and returned back via plane at 5:00 PM to the Ranchito Village Airstrip.

Upon arrival at the Ranchito Village Airstrip, Deshmukh debarked from the plane and immediately began walking towards his silver in color, 4-runner vehicle which was left in the airstrip parking lot.

As he got closer to his vehicle he noticed that there was a grey in color, 4-doored car parked right behind his vehicle and as he attempted to get into his own vehicle, two men jumped out of the car parked behind his, one armed with a handgun and demanded he hand over the money he was carrying.

After Deshmukh handed over the money, the robber wielding the handgun hit him over the head then both men got back into their car and drove away.

Up to this time, no suspects have been found.

Police investigation continues.
